Running for a cause: Empower Her 5K recap.

We came. We ran. We crushed it!

At Chica Project, we are constantly on the move—metaphorically and literally! While we are always busy cultivating opportunities to connect with and uplift young Women of Color, we also know how important it is to stay active. On Saturday, September 27, Chica Project hosted this year’s Empower Her 5K, an annual event designed to promote physical exercise and amplify our vision to see a world with doors wide open for young Women of Color.

The Empower Her 5K is more than just a race. It’s a celebration of community, engagement, and wellness. We believe that health and wellness are integral parts of reaching one’s full potential. Physically walking and running together symbolizes our community’s commitment to collective movement—creating paths of empowerment for the next generation. Community events like the Empower Her 5K give us the opportunity to share the vital work that we do and to raise funds to help us serve more young women. Every donation contributed to the Empower Her 5K fund goes directly to supporting our programming, giving chicas the tools and resources to step into adulthood with confidence.

We are so grateful for everyone who attended this year’s Empower Her 5K. Whether you ran, walked, or cheered from the sidelines, your participation directly supports Chica Project’s mission to empower young Women of Color in the Boston area and beyond. Missed out on the fun? No worries! Even though the event is over, you can still be a part of our familia. Consider giving financially through the Empower Her 5K donation page or keep in touch by following us on social media and checking out our future events

Thank you for being in this race with us. Your support enables us to reach more young women and girls so that they can have the opportunity to thrive.
