They are more than 2x as likely as white men to make less than $15/hour.
are overrepresented in low-paying hourly jobs.

73% of maids & housekeepers are Women of Color. 49% of home care workers are Black or Latina.
suffer a bigger pay gap.

For every dollar paid to White men, Black women earned 63¢, Latinas earned 58¢, and Native American women earned 51¢.
are systemically left behind.

Today’s median Black family owns $3,600 — just 2% of the $147,000 of wealth the median White family owns. The median Latino family owns $6,600 — just 4% of the median White family.

What We Do

Our mentors, workshops, curricula, and leadership development programs open doors for chicas to step into their futures empowered with skills, networks, self-confidence, and joy.

We are working towards a world where women, girls, and all people experiencing oppression at the intersection of race, ethnicity, and gender have the opportunity to rise to their full potential.

Chica Project inspires chicas to practice self-love, build financial freedom, access education, expand social capital, and build political power.

We’ve been working toward our dream for over a decade now. As time changes, so do we. Chica Project recognizes the need to constantly grow to meet the ever-changing needs of our chicas and communities.
