Chica Project Visits State House for Youth Mentoring Day
Highlighting the importance of mentorship.
On Wednesday, April 1, Chica Project, a Mass Mentoring Partnership (MMP) grantee, had the chance to visit the Massachusetts State House as part of Youth Mentoring Day, hosted by MMP. Focused on highlighting the importance of mentorship, this unique opportunity allowed attendees to meet directly with state representatives and legislators, youth-serving programs, and other young people from all over Massachusetts. This event is one way that MMP advocates for increased state support and involvement in youth mentorship programs.
MMP’s goal is to educate and invest in healthy mentorship relationships through hands-on engagement and institutional change – a mission that aligns strongly with Chica Project’s vision. Through Youth Mentoring Day, MMP seeks to bring awareness to the importance of mentorship for young people and how it positively impacts outcomes in education, mental health, and professional growth, ultimately strengthening our communities.
Mentorship is all about relationships. Through trust, encouragement, and guidance, mentors can help instill the belief that anything is possible. At Chica Project, we’ve seen the difference mentorship can make in helping to build confidence, develop practical skills, and offer networking opportunities. By curating a culturally affirming and supportive environment, our mentors allow chicas to seek self-discovery and build collective power. They truly are the heartbeat of our organization.
Thank you to MMP for having us on Youth Mentoring Day and for being an advocate in the youth mentoring space!
