Leadership Across Generation. Growth Beyond Imagination.
Ashley Cruz Senior, Madison Park High School Participant
"Chica has changed my life over the past three years. This program helped me find out a strategy for what I want to do in the future. I've always known I've wanted a career in art but Chica has helped me figure out how to go about it, and how to do it responsibly."
Ashley has been accepted to various colleges and will attend this Fall 2016.
Isis Rivera Senior, TechBoston Academy Participant
"Through Chica Project I've learned how to dress and represent myself in order to be successful in the professional world. Today, I am willing to speak out for myself and present my work proudly. My goal is to become a veterinarian and a scientist. My experience with the college tours made me think positively about attending college. I'm also now in contact with various professionals and community leaders that I wouldn't have known without Chica Project."
Isis will be attending Simmons College in the Fall of 2016.
Eliana Taveras Mother of Isis Rivera Mom
"Isis has become a more confident young lady through Chica Project. She interacts with her sisters and understands the importance of family and communication. This is a wonderful project and I am glad my daughter is part of it. It's the best thing that has happened to her."
Wilnelia Rivera Advisory Board Member
"Chica Project speaks to my values 100% and that is not an understatement. The cornerstone of my value system is lifting as we climb and this is what Chica is all about. I was drawn to them due to my own Latina Sorority experience. To me this organization interconnects adults and youth."
Emely Paez National Urban Fellow UWander Participant
"UWander is hands-down a life-changing experience. Being able to walk into an environment with limited resources has allowed me to appreciate the privilege I take for granted. From facilitating a workshop in Spanish, to speaking to high school girls on a one-on-one level, to the exploration of Dominican history and heritage, each encounter required a different version of you, making it a personal growing experience. For a moment, you are living outside of yourself, breathing new air, engaging new lives, and impacting a community in ways too large for you to even understand. It's really just ah-mazing!"
Emely will earn her Master's in Public Administration the Summer of 2016.
